Check out my babies cute christmas outfit - except she lost one of her christmas shoes while we were out and about today! :-)
The building in the picture is our hotel and the riverwalk is right by our hotel - it's very pretty here and lovely weather. the cold back home is going to be a shock to our system - it's been 60 degrees here.
Christmas is definitely a weird experience here. Last night was Christmas Eve and I was up in the business center of the hotel blogging (by the way it's super expensive so I suggest bringing a laptop for those who are coming here) anyway, there were SO many people in the streets of the island blowing noisemakers, wearing hats, and devil horns - i'm not sure why. It's like a new years eve party in the street. Same thing tonight - it's about 8:30 right now and its a party in the street for all the people who live in guangzhou. We talked to one of the shop owners and he said he doesn't even know why they celebrate christmas. It's like they just wear hats and have a party - they don't exchange presents like we do.
We are homesick today since its Christmas and we are missing our friends and family and want to be home. We have enjoyed our time here in China but we are missing the comforts of home and seeing our loved ones. Of course, Amaya is the best Christmas gift of all and I am so blessed she is my daughter!
She is doing very well - we are quite proud of her - last night she went to bed at her normal time - 9:30 and woke up at 7:30! YEAH!! we feel such success she is back on schedule but I feel a little defeated becase we have to start from scratch on saturday back home! Let's hope it doesn't take too long!
Today we had a laidback day. I had a sinus headache in the morning - I was so tired I walked out of the hotel room to go downstairs to breakfast in my slippers - OOPS! and Amaya was tired and fussy after breakfast so we napped in the hotel, then ate lunch outside, walked in a park - took pictures and shopped. Then another nap for all of us and more shopping! We bought Amaya so many things from her country to give to her as she gets older. I bought her this chinese soft doll for babies and she LOVES it! She can't stop biting it and laughing at it!
3 more days and we will be home - we are counting down! Tomorrow Amaya gets her picture taken on the famous red couch in the hotel with the other babies and then we are having a farewell dinner of Dim sum with our group. Thursday we get the babies visa and then friday we go home! :-)
Merry Christmas Everyone and we miss you!
